The final Redemption
The Final Redemption
New years eve, what a marvellous night
Oh, what a wonderful new year we had in sight!
We were wishing for days warm and bright
And for times without sorrow or spite.
Then 2020 came storming in,
As if to punish humanity for long standing sins
Testing our urge to save our own skins,
But what of our planet, and of our kins?
In january the world was on fire;
Whilst in India- just a few weeks prior,
A bill was passed, making the public go haywire
The chaos among the people was all to admire.
February was no better, was it?
A global superpower had taken a hit
Possibly into a bat, a chinese man bit
And then the world came crashing into this pit
By march, from China the virus had spread;
In Italy and Spain there were thousands dead
Day after day, more were infected
Until soon the world sat dejected.
Then in April the roads were still
The hotels were shut, so were the factories and mills
While citizens were confined to their windowsills,
The leaders of the world displayed a strong will.
Doctors are needed more than ever;
As this contagion they strive to sever,
Health workers must be supported in this courageous endeavour
After all, it's now or never.
While we sit in quarantine,
Inside our homes there’s quite a scene
Some live it up while some grow keen
To step out into a world cleaner than it’s ever been.
Outside, by masks faces are hidden
Loitering outdoors is now forbidden
If any of these rules are overridden,
There is a chance you might well be bedridden!
Since to the outdoors we are deprived,
To occupy ourselves, theories we contrive
“Is this a biological warfare, or were the Chinese just naive?
Oh, in our fantasies how we thrive!
Now is the time when there is no barbarity
No hate or riots due to any sort of disparity
In a world where mutual respect is a rarity
This is the final chance for the redemption of humanity.
The economy now is all the time low
But to save our planet, how far will we go?
While we sit trapped, ecosystems do grow
Once free, we must attempt to preserve them so.
How long this will go on, i certainly cannot say
But i believe that there soon will be a day
When all the chaos will have faded away
And then things will be better than they were yesterday.
